Braining sound a bit barbaric, but remember the mice or rat is dead already, it could be the differance of life or death for your snake. its better than live feeding.
I think the smell of the exposed brain excites the snake and triggers the feeding response, when your snake has started to feed agin it may not be nessercery to ever do it agin. BUT BE PREPERED that it may have to be a regular practice with some snakes. hope this is not going to put you off keeping them. |

| Like jono said it can usually be a one off, and to be honest it isnt as bad as it sounds, i was a bit ewww when i first went to try it, its fairly quick and easy todo takes about 5 seconds from me with a dart (puncture) to exposing tissue to be honest i think the only reason my snake will only eat brained prey is because its a royal *grumble* |

| ewwww ! i was hoping this was a urban myth ,i was told philipe was an "09 " snake crb , hes very thin , just shed, and about 12" long. i then got a brb from mason exotics , 8 wks old , much thicker and easily 4-5" longer , feeds no problem whatso ever. he just runs right over the feed , pays no attention to it . so youd all suggest the braining process ?????? now i just need to find someone willing to do it for me !!!!!!!! (maybe have to ring a male friend ,whos not squeemish !) hanks you guys , its like having an expert on hand !! |

| it also depends what the person/shop was feeding prior to you buying, they could of easily been using mice/rats or even hamsters/gerbils (depending on size) and changing the food type will result in a "no interest" approach from the snake - sorry if you stated earlier on in the thread but my browser wont let me see the older posts :( if you find out what its feeding and use identical food items it should trigger a response. I also find if the snake will not feed one week, i leave it for a week then feed it the following week, feed attemp on the 1st of march skip the 7th of march feed and attempt again 14th of march for example :) helps stop the snake becomming too stressed |

| the shop said it was on pinkies ! the snake is very small.i will have to ring around to see if theres anyone i know willing to help me squeeze some brains out this weekend !!!!!!! got a mouse on the defrost now.im sure i can feel a difference in his width,feeling emptier (if you know what i mean ????) will let you know how i get on . fingers crossed x (ewwwwwww!!) |

Haha, you will be fine, also when you update us can you check the temps? it might be down to a fee reasons why he isnt eating such as:
rub/viv too big
too hot/cold
to dry/wet
not enough hides
etc a good idea would be a to post a pic of his setup and tell us temps/humidity aswell :)

| i feed him in a tupperware box so he feels more secure ,and cover it with a pillow case.temp 85 and humidity 60 ??? got an exo terra tank with mesh innthe top.im having trouble keeping the humidity high as the ventilation is a bit too good. so i put a damp towel on the top to prevent this.have a hot and cool spot, 1 hide that the 2 snakes share , could this be my problem. they seem happy together.i think ??? gonna go check if philipe has taken the bait ! |

| i definetly think you need to put them in seperate vivs. only together if your trying to breed them.this could be the reason. also cover the sides of the glass.a bit more day time darkness would be good. |

| try getting a small (rub) and small heat mat. very easy to control temp and humidity. small snakes are very agrophobic.....hope i can help |

| i agree with jono i would definatly seperate the snakes, even if attempting to breed i keep seperate and introduce for breeding then house individually again id personally keep them both in rubs for now and leave the viv until they get bigger |
