She actually does not look thin to me. Brazilian Rainbow Boas are actually a very thin snake naturally. They are not big around (or are not supposed to be) like a BCI red tail Boa. These guys (BRBs) should be very long and very slender.

I do have to say, though, that in the picture, it does look like your BRB is in a shed cycle. Is she always that pale in color....or is it just a washout from your camera's flash?

The mottling you are talking about...I can't really see it? Are you talking about the smaller raised "bump-like" things near her belly? I know you said you were keeping her humidity up (which is excellent!), but have you also provided her with a dry spot that she can go and rest in if she needs to get away from the moisture for a bit? Just a small hide with a dryer atmosphere inside can be enough to help out and if you find her hiding out in there all the time, it is possible that her environment may be too wet. Don't get me wrong, they DO love higher humidity and a wetter climate, but they also like to be able to escape to a dry place sometimes.

At any rate, I think your feeding schedule will work for her. Just keep at it and give her time to fill out a little bit. But in my most humble of opinions, she really does not look too thin to me.

Thanks guys, you've been a fantastic help! At least I know she isn't seriously unhealthy. I'll post a picture of her in a month or so's time to let you see any progress! :)

A variant term for the species is the "slender boa," which should give you an idea what Incurable is speaking of. The only time a Brazilian should ever look "plump" is a female during the breeding cycle.

Multiple people have noted the probable shed, so keep an eye on her belly -- if it goes pink, she's in shed!

Looking forward to the updated pictures!

It is "slightly" pink at the moment, but would she be in shed less than a week after shedding? Now that she's got more food do you think she's going into growth overdrive? lol Shee seems quite healthy and attentive when I pick her up, and no nips!

Interestingly enough, when I got her out this morning, her skin seemed very loose, but then after about 5 minutes of handling, the effects seemed less? Not gone, just less. Could it be that she just needs more exercise? I'm not sure how much she was handled as a hatchling.

Thanks to everyone for their advice so far! And for being patient :)

On an unrelated note, I went into my local pet shop this morning and someone was in the process of buying a baby Columbian Rainbow Boa which I had always admired.. I shot them a look of jealousy :D

Oh and did anyone realise that Pacman frogs ate MICE pinkies?! I was shocked!!

A shed again that soon would be a new one on me. Sometimes they get a very slight pink tone without it being shed-related.

A sudden increase in food will certainly lead to a growth spurt.

I'm not sure about the "loose skin" appearance. However, she should get enough exercise just in her cage.

Her attentive behavior is a good sign! And for that matter, so is the lack of nipping!

Keep us posted....

I agree with Snakesitter, that is pretty soon for her to be shedding again already. I will be looking forward to hearing more about her over the coming weeks to see how this progresses. As to the Pacman frogs, I first heard that about a month ago and was totally shocked, myself. I had no idea there were carnivorous frogs out there. I knew most of them were insectivores, but to learn that one would eat a mouse pink was just crazy. They sure are cute little devils, though.
