So I pick up my new boa tomorrow (yay)
Now it's a long drive (4 hours if the traffic sucks, 3if its nice) and she's going to be in a snake bag in a rather vibratingish (is that a word? Bumpy more like) van, the heating isn't a problem as we use the van (mini bus actually) to ferry old folks to supermarkets and back (aren't we kind) so the heating pumps out sickly amounts to keep them warm in winter. I'm worried about all the shaking and bumping from the engine though.
Any ideas how I can reduce stress for her or should I not worry too much? |

may be an idea to take a rub also, have the snake in the bag and put the bag in the rub, pack it with some newspaper to prevent any bump or thumps during the journey |

I don't have a rub big enough for her, might see if I can find a big cardboard box to pack her into |

Twent mins from wolver now, got a big cardboard box and a pillow inside, shredded a bunch of newspaper in the duvet cover to use as snake bag and will put bag in box, box in lap. Was a good drive no traffic at all shame I got up so early, 5am is nasty.
Will update once she's collected see you all soon! |

Congrats!!!
I agree with Graeme, a container filled with newspaper is a great choice for cushioning. Just fill the boc two-thirds with crumpled paper and lay the snake bag/tub on the paper to protect again bumps. Sounds like I'm a little late to this advice party though, lol. ;-)
After the initial inspection and photos, I would respectfully suggest giving her five to seven days to settle in free of handling, then feed her. Once she's eating at her new home, then start handling.
Good luck, and I look forward to the photos! |
