Hey folks!
Got my first BRB (first snake even) on friday.
I spent the past few months researching these snakes, as I know their requirements are a bit more strict than say a corn or milk snake, but I fell in love with these snakes when I was in Ecuador doing some conservation research, caught a few wild specimens of their cousins the Peruvian RB (only to measure & photograph the snake, then release it unharmed).
At the moment 'Chica' is 3 months old. So I just wanted to introduce her to the forum...
I have her in a 24" wooden viv, because a friend of mine has a spare one. I spent a week or so playing with the thermostat, and spraying etc to get the temp/humidity to the required levels. Then I collected her on Friday & she is settling in well. Will try her first feed later this week, she took her first rat fuzzy from the breeder last week.
Anyway, I expect this viv will be only temporary (will probably rot in these conditions) so I am probably going to move her to a 90*60*50 Herptek viv in a few months, as I have heard these are best for humidity loving species. Has anyone used these before? What are your opinions?

Hi,
I'm not the most experienced owner, I got my first BRB 11 days ago! But congratulations on the new addition and welcome to the forum |

Thanks folks.
Chica has started to dull down, looks like she is going into shed. I am going to see if she will take her first feed from me tonight, but from the records I have on her from birth, she usually doesnt eat while in shed, so we will see.
@ Zer0: I hope Alucard gets healthy! I am waiting on a reptifogger being delivered, and I will hook this up to a timer. Right now I am keeping it >80% by just spraying regularly.

Very cute! I like the middle pict especially! (Note, however, to use care when handling after feeding...it's generally best avoided for two or three days.) Looking forward to more picts as she grows! |

I shouldve said, the feeding pic was the most recent, she fed today and will not be bothered again (other than water changes and spot checks) for at least 48 hours! The other two pics were snapped yesterday when I first handled her after her settling period. |
