Set-up looks great Martin, good to see you all properly set-up with no cost spared (as discussed in email).
I would disagree with Snakesitter about not using a bulb as the heat source, i have used bulbs for all my vivs for the last 4 years & have had great success in doing so.
I have also sent you a free light guard to replace your current just in case it is too big as we don't want the BRB getting injured etc.

Looks like we have debate , I can say every one has there own personality in doing things and i'm sure Cliff didn't mean in any harm but i would most probs agree with Cliff as if you was to use a heatmatt it will be a tad cheaper to run and ect.. |

Thanks Ash. No harm was meant, Anthony: I based my opinion off consensus I've seen across multiple forums. While not directly dangerous to the animal, any heating solution such as bulbs that makes humidity harder to maintain is tough to recommend for rainbows. Ash's point about cost is a good one as well: incandescent bulbs do use a quite a bit of power compared to many other solutions such as undercage. If you are having good luck with bulbs though, well done!!!

Not really a debate & i'm not saying he ment any harm in what he said. Yes you are right, everyone does have their own way of doing things & having kept/bred BRB's for aslong as i have, i have a pretty good idea of what i'm doing (wouldn't you say)

Hiya
Cheers for all the ideas guys and gals, always good to listen to the different ideas hence why forums are so good and important so again ta everyone for your input
He arrived at midnight and was put in his viv and left alone to settle in and explore, tongue was extremely active and he was just plodding about having a look, couldnt stay and watch him as I had to nip out of work to meet the courier but will be keen to see how hes doing and settling in over the weekend :-)
This was him having a peep in one of the hides within a few minutes of being put in the viv for the 1st time last night
I was going to just take the lid off the tub and put the tub in the viv for him to come out as and when he was comfortable to but as soon as I removed the lid he was coming out and happily climbed out onto my hand so was a nice surprise, really really pleased, can`t thank everyone involved enough I will keep updates on the forum so you can all see how he is doing in the years to come I have named him "zeus"
One thing I will say about these brb`s as well is how quick are they lol, its first time ive handled one and after being used to handling earl the brb was a surprise lol Thankyou everyone and as exotics for all your help and of course for the snake, looking forward to getting to know him and earn his trust in the coming months/years
I will get some pics for everyone when hes settled in but had him out for 10 minutes this afternoon, seems to be extremely laid back and happy to be held and the iridescence just under natural daylight with no sun is awesome but for now heres a little teaser of him disappearing into one of the plants 10 mins ago
Seriously happy chappy at the moment

Aww, Martin, he looks great! I'm so excited to get my little girl next week.
It's nice to see his size in their too as I was a bit worried my 9L rub might be a bit small, but he seems little compared to the damp hide tub you have so I'm happy now that my setup will be fine.
Make sure you keep posting pics over the next few months as it will be nice to compare our silblings :)
I can see why your happy. Congrats :)

I know that feeling Martin
Still have a everytime I handle Zippy! Zeus looks like he's settled in well.
Zippy moved out of his rub & into his viv a couple of days ago, although he is holed up beneath some moss at the moment as he's in shed, so it'll be a while before I can get some pics of him exploring his new home.

Had him out on 2 occasions today to get him used to me and seems to be settling on me already as gone from quite a pace to staying put having a look around so took advantage and got a couple of pics so we can get an idea of size from now to the future, again not had him out for too long as don`t want to stress him out at all

No probs at all so far got permanent humidity in the 80`s and temp at 83 to 84 degrees
Good news today was feeding earl so thought I would give zeus a try on a fuzzy as nothing lost from trying and he took it without hesitation, gotta be good signs of him feeling settled if he`s fed already
